Please trust us voters, didn't we vote correctly last 30 years?
SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has reminded Singaporeans of
what is at stake for the country in the coming General Election.
He said there are arguments from both sides during the hustings and that
is natural. But polls are not about who wins the argument. They are
about who can look after the future of Singaporeans and turn Singapore
into a place of opportunities. |

He said: "There are a lot of arguments and debates, firing on both
sides every time there is an election and that is in the nature of
contests. But it is worthwhile remembering this is not over who wins the
argument. "This is over who can do better for Singapore and
Singaporeans, who can look after the future better and make this a place
which will be with more opportunities, more secure lives, with more
prosperous economy and stable society for you and your children, and that is
what is at stake when you go to the polls and that is what you have to
decide.

Right, let's do a check and see if we voters are that dumb not to know that
polling is not only about debates and arguments but who Singapore voters
wish to choose as their representative in parliament? Dearest voters, are
you aware that you are voting for your future? Are you smart enough to know
that by voting, it's about your future and not about arguments? Ok, voters
have replied, they know very well this message, been hearing this message
since "last and previous elections" and been hearing this same repeated
message very recently from different ministers too. Er, voters are
asking back - Are we are going to hear this same repeated message all the
way till polling date? And are we going to hear MM Lee saying this same
repeated message too just before polling date? No worries, we are not saying
anything or thought you are insinuating that we voters are dumb and not
smart to know that polling is about our future. Yeah, we know, you are very
concerned that we do not know it's about our future, we are very grateful
for your concerns, thanks for your concerns. But can you just trust us a
little. Hey, didn't we voters, vote correctly the last 30+ odd years, please
have a little faithful in us, please. Nomination Day has yet to past,
already we have heard a few times this same repeated message that it is
about Singapore future and your children's future and to vote wisely from
PAP. Some sensitive people do feel a little offended that PAP doesn't seem
to trust voters such that PAP felt a need to repeat this same message many
times before polling date. Guess, some of us are a bit sensitive and get
tired easily of hearing same repeated message by different speakers, please
be forgiving to sensitive hearing voters.
What are your views? Are you tired of same old message from PAP? Are
you aware you are voting for your future and children's future? Do you
feel that a future parliament with more opposition is better for your
future? Will you be shortchanging your children's future with a one
sided parliament like last parliament? |
