PAP can no longer rely on using "servants of the people" strategy
In announcing the ruling party’s election manifesto, Singapore Prime
Minister Lee Hsien Loong reminded party activists and youth wing members
not to forget that they are ‘servants of the people, not their masters’.
"Never forget we are servants of the people, not their masters. Always
maintain a sense of humility and service. Never lord it over the people
we are looking after and serving. See

Such a "servant of the people" strategy if adopted by PAP sounds very
hollow in the face of high paying salaries of ministers and members of
parliament, that they are viewed as servants of the people before
election but high and mighty lions after election. The outrageous amount
of pay such "servants of the people" are getting naturally set apart
"servants of the people" from the people, the "rakyat", those who gotten
ordinary pay. |

Many people are very cynical and skeptical about such a strategy if
adopted by PAP in the face of PAP centric policy of using the public money
on hdb upgrading policy for real "servants of the people" do not
differentiate party politics but real concerns of well beings and needs of
the people first and not party politics first.
Thus the old strategy when PAP is with the labour unions and with the people
can no longer be used in these different time line. In fact, with social
media, internet, alternative platforms of communication and community, the
people in a sense looks like only grudgingly endured PAP rule if not for lack of
good opposition candidates, almost everywhere PAP has been commented
anything but "servants of the people".
Although the labour unions are currently in the hands of PAP, it too can be
vulnerable in the face of onslaught from effective, eloquent, convincing and
persuasive debaters and very unlikely labour unions will stand together
with PAP if the people has departed from PAP for only unwise men will go
against the wishes of the people and be caught in it.
From time immemorial, "servants of the people" strategy can only be used by
true servants of the people who live like the people and with the people.
The people although kept quiet all these years, are not stupid, they can
discern clearly and smell out fake "servants of the people" and the
repercussions for being caught out can backfired terribly for PAP.
Thus it is best that PAP not to use or rely on "servants of the people"
strategy, the drift has set in due to policies long ago and further with
such great influx of foreigners or fake foreign talents creating such
unhealthy pressing competition against the people, the "servants of the
people" strategy are being quietly laughed at.
